A lovely couple of days.

Most of these outings have no real stories to tell. My getting out has slowed down a bit and looks to stay that way for the foreseeable future. That is not necessarily a bad thing. It just is what it is. I have been wracked with a few significant expenses, so disposable income is a bit lacking right now. Just going out for a Happy Hour to relax, get a bite and interact with others usually is a $40 hit with tip, so those are on hold.

May 5, 2023 I was off to work the monthly Mix party at the art museum. I had a mission I wanted to take care of along the way, so I dressed professionally. I am trying to sell my apparel to the Rock Hall. Big swing, I know. Emails to general mailboxes, packages sent to senior management, numerous voicemails, all getting me nowhere. Being a member of the museum, I at least expect the courtesy of someone at least responding, even if it is to tell me to pound salt. So I actually went to the museum, spoke with the manager of the merch shop and left with the names and email addresses of the buyers! Mission accomplished! Step one ✅. We’ll see where this all goes.

Then I got some takeout, ate it in the car, went to the art museum, cleaned up some e-mails and worked my three hour shift. As usual, a great deal of fun. As usual, I got a few hugs. Here are the photos of my outfit.

May 7, 2023, another Bridal Expo, this one in Akron. My running mates could not make it and I will admit I missed them greatly. However, I have said this before and I still feel this way, I LOVE being the only “one” in the room. That has not changed and this event was as fun for me as the last one, just in a different way. The fact that I have introduced Sherry into a circumstance that was perfect for me tells you what I think about her. I reveled this day on being the only “one” there.

Just a warning here, my pre-show photos suck. Stand very far back and squint when you look at these pictures.

Sometimes you know you look pretty good and your pictures all blow. Then there are days you love the photos and then look in horror in the mirror! This was certainly a bad photo day.

I got HMU, sat in the chair for at least an hour and a half. I find it interesting how there are different interpretations of how to makeup a face. I always learn from having my makeup done. But usually when I get my HMU at a show, they do my face as if I were born female. So you see here a fabulous makeup job if I had female facial features. I do not. When I do my own makeup, I create the illusion of cheekbones and highlight my eyes and brows more. But the young lady was delightful and I picked up a few tips from her. I love the use of pink in the highlighting below my elderly eyes.

Remember the Seinfeld episode where the woman he was dating either looks gorgeous or hideous, depending on the lighting? That’s me, some days I am damn proud of my look and other days I feel like Quasimodo.

I wore the same two dresses from the last week. I also went with a different wig as I like changing up my look each show. The mix of models was very different for this show and the runway a bit shorter. I got tremendous feedback when I walked and after we finished, a young bride-to-be came up and complemented me and of course, I had to hug her. I helped a bit with her as she loved one of the dresses a fellow model walked.

A fabulous day for me, just a different type of fabulousness. Not better, not worse, just a different kind of good.

Check out our updated LINKS page!

Here is where I ask for your help. Right now, the blog generates revenues from the Google Ads and from any click over purchase you make on Amazon. The realities are that for every dime I make in revenue, I spend about a quarter, for the URL, hosting services, security, Michelle’s awesome work and frankly the tremendous amount of time I spend on this. It is and always will be a labor of love and my, maybe poor attempt, at being of service to those like me. We will never ask for a penny, we will never charge a penny, but what I ask is simply this. If you shop Amazon or any other store we add here, simply click though the Links page. I get revenue for you clicking through, even if you don’t purchase what I am recommending. Every fraction of a penny matters to me. Thank you!

  1. Hi Kandi,
This post, like a couple of your others recently, are, in my view, very interesting, very effective, expressions of ‘a day in the life’ as you deal with, enjoy, ruminate over, the nature of the world around you. I want to say, I feel your….irritation, disappointment, resignation, about things that let you down. Even when things happen, as you often note, for good, and understandable reasons, they are still irritating.
As to the matter of things costing money, Yikes do I relate to that. I, like you, shop 95% thrift, and have many excellent items that cost 25 cents, really. A whole lot that cost 1 dollar, and only one or 2, ok, maybe 3, that cost more than 4 dollars. I just don’t have the money to indulge my every desire for…..well, whatever. Yeah, I’d really like a new BMW, but that is not happening.
Your blog is a profoundly meaningful source, site, for our world. Your activities, as you chronicle them, are inspirational to many people.
Please know that I, like a great many others, I am sure, admire what you do, and what you convey through your excellent Kandi’s Land blog. Keep on rolling and know that I am pulling for you as you tackle the damned ‘system’ that is so often infuriating. Best to you!

  2. To look so beautiful in those gowns Kandi ❤️. And since I’ve nothing better to do I’ll be ad clicking my little heart out for you 😊

  3. I wish you mucho luck with the buyers Kandi.

And I can relate to what you said about being comfy when you’re the only one in the room. At first I dreaded it but now feel fairly comfortable when I’m in among a group of GG women, whether it be in small or large groups. For me, it really enhances the overall feeling of femininity when it happens.

BTW, one of these days I would love to wear a dress like the one with the scoop neck in Wedding Pic #2. Very pretty dress!

    Be well,

    Fiona
