My New Day Dawning

Ahhh....

December 17, 2025, my first shift driving overnight for a third party on behalf of Amazon. Dawning, literally. The shift starts about 1:00AM and entails getting loaded (a fine-tuned process) and deliveries to about three different post offices within a general geographic area. Driving about 70% of the shift in total darkness, often on state routes with no streetlights. Plus Mr. Bezos has cameras all over you and if you do not follow the letter of the law absolutely precisely, they slap your hands. I rolled one single stop sign (which I am sure I have done every single day of my entire driving life, almost 50 years, zero accidents ever caused by me) and caught a raft of shit for it. But it is the answer to my problems and will now count out loud, 1-2-3, at every single stop sign.

The happiness I have in getting this job manifested itself this day. Now, as I write this, I have not yet done anything yet, so you never know, but I am hopeful. Steady work. Chose my own workdays. The shifts are all overnight (day one report time 1:15AM). But it opened up actual free time. Free in the sense I did not have to worry about anything in particular. So, I woke up very early to allow for an afternoon nap, worked out hard and then got dressed and spent a few hours in my girl glory!

Not wanting to spend any money on an activity and knowing I cannot drink (another added benefit for me), I headed to the Rock Hall. I am a member, so I can attend the hall 365 days a year for free if I wish. It was a cold day but just felt great casually walking through the hall and seeing some things I hadn’t before. Yeah, I also took some selfies. I then headed to a nearby mall to buy some great Cleveland related art for my on-going wallscapes. The woman who runs the holiday popup is a dear and as you can probably guess, my purchase was completed with a big hug!

Fingers crossed this all works out and it will be an adjustment sleeping in pieces and not for a full night, but I have trouble ripping off an eight-hour sleep anyway. I was delighted by my look this day.
