As has become my post style of late, I am sure you thought I was going to talk about Madonna and/or this song. Ahhhhh, no. Not a fan. While I respect her, of course, she is usually a quick change to the next station when one of her songs come up on the radio. Borderline, her second big hit, is the only Madonna song in my 14,000+ song iTunes library.
So why bring this up? March 6, 2026 was my now ten+ year long commitment to “MIX!”, the monthly fundraiser/party at The Cleveland Museum of Art. The theme was “Material Girl” in honor of Women’s History month. This event could not have come at a better time, as I had a grueling work schedule all week, bouncing between my three jobs and issues with one of them. This afternoon was an oasis as I started with that top and slowly built my look. I think we did ourselves proud…
I started with the top and headband and joyfully went about assembling the overall outfit and look. The stockings were a must. The boots a recent super clearance purchase at JC Penney. The skirt, spot on and the cherry on top was just the right jacket. I went a bit over the top on the makeup and jewelry and even went with two earrings in each ear. Never did that before and will absolutely do so again!
I was THRILLED with my presentation this day!!

Before reporting to work, I stopped at a favorite spot to enjoy a bite and an Old Fashioned (or two). Just sitting at a crowded bar, casual conversations with folks seated nearby, relaxing, is just wonderful.

At the event, the love I got was off the charts, hug after hug. Known friends coming over to introduce me to their friends, making new friends. Compliments and smiles, which is why I come back month after month. One lovely woman came over and introduced herself to me, saying she has noticed me time and again and did not have the courage to say hello. To me! Really? We are now friends…

If you can find a place like this, to represent yourself proudly, in front of thousands of people, do it.
