Go Red For Women 2026

Love in action.

Thought I would go Utopia, 1977 (Todd Rundgren) with the excerpt above? Maybe another time…

Been doing this for a while. If you are interested, you can revisit all my post-pandemic experiences (there was an obvious break, but I did so before as well).

2023, 2024, 2025

I have also worked quite a few Go Red STEM events for middle school girls over the recent past. Besides the obvious good feeling associated with helping a worthy cause, really think about what I am doing here. This is a female dominated event and I am one of them. Acceptance at something like this is as deep and meaningful as you can imagine, more so for someone like me. This is acceptance on a very human level, not because you are a part of this category of person or that one.

Contribute to making the world better, even a few dollars if you can spare them

In keeping with what thrills me to no end, sharing my love of music while sharing my love of Kandiness, how do we tie “Red” into this post? Well, duh… The Red Hot Chili Peppers!

Incredibly deserving Rock Hall Inductees. Their drummer, Chad Smith (the Will Ferrell look-alike) and I had an extended backstage conversation at the 2024 Induction Ceremonies. So I got that going for me. The song “Scar Tissue” off the Californication album (CD, whatever…) is a good representation on my life. Scarred by many things we have discussed here, allowing the healing and moving on.

I trotted out one of the new wigs purchased the day prior and received great feedback.

Give time, give money, give your support and prayers.

Just find some way to give to a better world.

The day itself was amazing! No question, I collected somewhere north of 20 hugs, from old and new friends. At least five people went out of their way to come over and compliment me. Smile after smile after smile. Seamless existence as any other woman there. I will mostly let some of the pictures speak for themselves. Afterward I was invited to have a few drinks and sit and talk. Again, me and three other women, completely accepted as one of them. Sharing, doing what women do. Understand, I NEVER take this for granted. I NEVER take this as a given. I ALWAYS cherish this ability I have to just “be”. These pictures by no means are comprehensive, but I think you get the idea.

I ask no one to take a picture, I am asked to do so.

At this lunch, we talked about how and why we were involved at this event. I said that you cannot complain about anything in the world today if you, yourself, don’t make any effort to improve things. I am making that effort. It is small, it is not going to change the world, but it is all I can do and I will always try to do my all. I was there giving of myself. It’s like to old adage; how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. How do you make the world better? One interaction, one event, one kindness at a time.

Postscript: I have always prided myself on responding personally to all comments. That is almost impossible these days for me. Steady work, for which I am very grateful, which pays for a modest lifestyle, frequent trips to Chicago and my Kandi experiences, does eat up time. Time that I used to have for commenting, etc. Outside of my work obligations, I will not give up my workout time and my writing. I hope the quality of my posts here shows through. So I ask your forgiveness if I don’t respond to a comment, just running this place and monitoring it takes time.

Time, the most precious commodity we have.

  1. Kandi, that is a great red dress, perfect for the event. I agree that each of us can make the effort to be giving, even a small amount of time is appreciated.
