Whatcha See is Whatcha Get

Sort of the story of my life...

Great tuxes!

The Dramatics, 1971, one of those songs that for me, seem ageless. So great! The horns are bright and vibrant and the scatting (“Look at me”, “Look at me”) perfect. And this song sums me up, what you see is what you get. No illusions, laying myself out to anyone interested (most human beings are not at all interested).

Wednesday, May 6, 2026, I had a wide-open afternoon and a Plexus networking event to attend. I left with little agenda and enjoyed my day completely. First stop was the Medina Antique Mall, a favorite place to simply browse and be. I found nothing to purchase (in my price range) but had a great time. Then I went to JCPenney trying to duplicate a recent BOGO clearance purchase at a different store. I picked up two pair of boots (one of which you can see here) for about $20 total. While I would never pay full retail for anything, I saved over $230 on that purchase. Sadly, this Penneys had no BOGO so nothing was purchased. I then hit another antique shop and got to the brewery early for the event.

There I immediately struck up a lengthy conversation with the gentleman seated next to me. Later I had another lengthy conversation with a transwoman. That was indeed interesting as I continue to learn about every kinda people. They (the preferred pronoun) had a goatee and in any circumstance, you would not have known anything. They are on HRT and only get out as a woman maybe two times a year. I would find it hard keeping that genie in a bottle! Plus, they had the complete acceptance and support of their wife. I continue to learn. The entire afternoon was lovely!

What you see (what you see)
Is what you get (is what you get)
What you see (what you see)
Is what you get (is what you get)
I mean what you see (what you see)
Is what you get now baby (is what you get)
And the real thing is the best thing yet (the best thing yet)
