One Cool Weekend

No words.....

Cool in more than one way.

The weekend was chock full of things to do, but the aching back (day 8 and counting) required scaling things back a bit. I had an audition for my first possible speaking role on Saturday, October 16, 2021 and was not going to miss that!

Troubadour Films presents “Calendar”. By only showing the holidays and birthdays, “Calendar” follows Anna as she grows through a year of relationships, family issues and self discovery. I auditioned for the part of Renee (55-60, Caucasian, Anna’s mother). I considered my character in how I put myself together. My audition took about 10 minutes and that was the length of my day out, but it was worth the time to get out the door.

I do believe I did very well. But I am realistic that it may be a stretch to play a mother. I thanked the director and acting coach for taking a chance on me. When I completed my read, they said I did wonderful, so my fingers are crossed.

On the first real Fall weather day this year, I made soup for dinner. I tended to my soup before heading out the door.

Then a day that may be a game changer for me, October 17, 2021. I worked a bridal show, put on by Northeast Ohio Weddings Magazine. I will be a writer and contributor for this magazine as well as being a model for an upcoming photo shoot. The heart and soul of this magazine, my friend Barbara Stitzer, allowed me to basically be a hostess for the bridal show, welcoming guests, schmoozing, smiling, preening and in my absolute glory!

I saw people I met in my recent fashion show. I saw people I knew from the art museum. I greeted brides, we chatted about wedding dates. I set up three interviews/stories for the magazine. I met and almost immediately clicked with the designer who I will be wearing in an upcoming December bridal shoot. We talked at length about the dress I will be wearing, bouncing ideas off of each other.

I met other models who will be there as well. I was asked to answer the model call for the upcoming NBA All-star fashion show (it’s in the CLE this year). Here is some photographic evidence of my wonderful day!

These three ladies will be killing a bridal photo shoot, to be featured in the magazine, this December! BTW, I adore the dress in the left. That collar…..oh, my.

I guess the best part of the day was the fashion show held at this event. I stood with a designer, a model, a drop dead gorgeous young lady who should be a model and two wedding planners. The entire show we talked about the dresses, the models, how they walked and I fit right in. I had to pinch myself!

Then when I got home Barbara texted me to tell me she got so many compliments on me. Wow! I truly am one lucky girl!

Side story: I walked to the near by Starbucks to get a cup of coffee. I looked exactly as you see me above in my coat. I am standing there waiting on my drink next to a woman who lived in the nearby condos. Remember, I fool no one, especially when I open my yap. She says to me how lucky I am to be tall. I joked that the heels I was wearing certainly help. We chatted for a while until our drinks were ready. I have this ability to just have people very comfortable around me, don’t know why.

  2. Kandi, that’s a very cute outfit with the leggings and striped top for the audition. You are awesome to have such fascinating outings, even a short one like that day. The dress you wore for the bridal show is simply gorgeous, and I agree with you that the collared gown is adorable. Can’t wait to see what dress you will be wearing in the upcoming photo shoot!

Enjoy your time escorting the talent at the Rock Hall, that is a different yet just as exciting event. Hugs, Tina

  3. Kandi: I love reading about your activities. A bit jealous because I am involved in a lot of community activities as well but none as Donna. (That’s ok with me, though) all the outfits are so nice but the one you are wearing making soup was an immediate hit with me,

  4. What a wonderful day you had. These adventures continue because you are very friendly, approachable and likeable feminine woman. You have that wonderful “girl next door” look.
And yes you could definitely play the mom roll.
