Le Ono

Like I wouldn't use this pic to open the post....

While my wife was away for a couple of weeks back in September/October my BFF Michelle and I had a chance for another glam night out, this time at a restaurant called Le Ono in Michelle’s hometown.

Le Ono, according to Google, means “taste” in Hawaiian. The owners, Teloni (who is Hawaiian) and Lisa, are friends of Michelle (she knows everyone, or at least it seems to me), and Michelle made reservations for a Friday night. I have some worries about going out relatively close to home (Michelle’s town is about a twelve minute drive from mine), but the appeal of going out dressed with Michelle far outweighs the worry of being outed with Michelle. (Ironically, on a subsequent night out a couple of months later, at a bar also owned by Teloni and Lisa, Michelle did run into someone she knows–and boy me has met, the golf pro at a local course–but I don’t think he’s seen me enough to make the connection).

We had drinks and a very nice meal, and Lisa came and talked to us. It was fun to learn her backstory; from the St. Louis area, moved to California, met Teloni in California. They moved back here to be closer to Lisa’s family, started a bar, then Le Ono. It’s gotten good reviews, and after our dinner, I can understand why. We also discussed having kids who play sports, as Lisa has a athletic daughter, Michelle two, and I’m a coach (and my sons played a couple of sports too). Teloni came out and briefly chatted with us, and Lisa made it clear we were welcome any time.

I knew what I wanted to wear, a green velvet dress, another prize from my shopping trip to Durham, North Carolina, to visit my friend Renee. We found this one on the discount racks but I loved it immediately, but had to find the right opportunity to wear it. This was the night.

After the meal, Michelle and I moved to another area of the restaurant with chairs and sofas, a more casual area than the dining tables. We pulled out our phones and started taking pictures of each other. Did I mention Michelle was a model in a previous lifetime? One would never guess. 😀

We talked and took pictures and enjoyed each other’s company. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Before I started going out dressed, I dreamed about going out to dinner in a glamorous dress.

Dreams can come true.

And now, photographic evidence of the evening…..
