My favorite event of the year, Solstice at The Cleveland Museum of Art, June 20, 2026! IMHO, the biggest party in town open to anyone. I will most likely get my mug in front of maybe 5,000 people. These images are from past Solstices, but it gives you a little perspective on what we do here and yes, we. I am by no means all that important there, but I am a part of it, have been for years. 🥲
This is our monthly MIX on steroids. DJs indoor and many bands on stage outside. Food and drink for all. I had quite a few friends there as well and went expecting to make a few more. All I can say is to be able to be in that space, in front of so many happy people, is wonderful. I spent my entire two-hour shift surrounded by these friends and many people, simply smiling and being positively received by all. On more than one occasion someone would tell me they had seen me here or there and had always wanted to meet me. What fills me with tremendous pride is that my style, how I present myself to the world, is always noticed and I am told so. Just the best evening!
While I do profess happiness here frequently, I very often have my struggles.
I know it’s not easy, but I do know what it is, the Holy Grail. Find a way.

Enjoy your holiday weekend! Yes, we live in a flawed world, but this still is the best country on the planet. In many countries, what you see from me here would not be possible. It might even get me killed or imprisoned (for that). Seek community, a sense of togetherness, wherever you are able.

Kandi, as I get older it seems sometimes that the world is getting worse. But then I hold my newest grandchild (#10) and say that he will make a difference and there is hope for the future.
