From Tolerant to Toxic: My Trans Awakening +2

Gwen's Saturday thoughts

“The so-called tolerant now brew the same venom they once condemned—only to drink it themselves and wear the scars they swore to erase.” Dr. Gwen Patrone

As a transgender woman, this truth hits especially hard.

I didn’t transition to make enemies or demand perfect agreement on every single issue. I did it to finally live authentically as the woman I am.

For the first time in my life, I felt aligned with my true self. Yet I watch with deep sadness as too many in our community have become the very intolerance we once fought so hard against — quickly attacking, shaming, and canceling anyone who doesn’t align 100% with “the” approved view on every topic.

I’m not looking for enemies. I’m hoping to gently awaken us to what we’re becoming.

We share so much in common. We have similar goals for safety, dignity, acceptance, and the freedom to live without fear. So what if we don’t think alike on every single topic?

I’ve never been a one-issue voter. I weigh every issue on its own merits, dive deep into the micro-issues within it, and only then form my own thoughtful judgment.

I’m an independent thinker.

I balance protecting open debate—even on sensitive topics—with preventing genuine harm. I approach each of these (and many others) with care and independent thought.

To assume I must think a certain way simply because I’m trans is to say I’m not a real independent thinker. But I have a brain. I’m smart. I can decide for myself — not based on what others dictate I should believe.

Hatred doesn’t protect us. It doesn’t make us safer. It only scars the one holding it, leaving ugly marks on our own hearts and souls.

Let’s choose better. We are capable of so much more — of compassion, nuance, and real dialogue even when we disagree.

We owe it to ourselves, and to the future we’re trying to build. 💛

Collapsing the Wave: Quantum Physics and the Power of Becoming You

Hey friends, buckle up because today we’re mixing quantum physics with real-life magic and plenty of ‘yes, and’ energy.

You know the observer effect in quantum mechanics? That fascinating idea where the mere act of observing something changes its behavior? Particles exist in a fuzzy cloud of possibilities—superposition—until they are observed, and then reality picks a lane. The wave function collapses. What could be becomes what is.

(Side note: Yes, actual physicists are probably screaming ‘that’s not exactly how it works’ into their coffee right now, but stay with me. We’re using the poetic version for life lessons, not building a hadron collider in the garage.)

Now imagine applying that to your own life. Especially if you’re trans, non-binary, or anyone who’s been told ‘this is the body, identity, or situation you received—deal with it.’ What if the biggest act of creation is deciding to experience yourself as you truly are? The moment you step into that truth—socially, medically, legally, or however your path looks—you’re not just changing. You’re collapsing the old probability wave.

BIG IDEA👉 You’re observing a new version of reality into existence.

The future is not some fixed script handed down from the universe’s grumpy HR department. The future is what we focus on, talk about, move toward, and embody.

The more we concentrate on the version of ourselves that feels right—the one that breathes easier, laughs louder, and no longer flinches at our reflection—the more that version solidifies. Thought plus action plus persistence equals new observed reality.

BRUTAL TRUTH 👉Life can be brutally negative sometimes.

Dysphoria that feels like wearing a costume that doesn’t fit your soul. Family that doesn’t understand. A world that sometimes treats basic human dignity as an optional extra. I’ve seen the dark days and the ‘maybe this is as good as it gets’ nights.

But here’s the sarcastic, glitter-covered truth: the universe doesn’t owe you a gentle transition… but it does respond when you start observing the life YOU WANT. It also responds if you focus on what you DON’T WANT and makes that happen too.

It’s like you’re a radio antennae and you’re pulsing out a frequency. Whatever resonates to that frequency is what you get more of.

For example: 💥focus on “life is negative” or “life is positive”, and you’ll start attracting it. The Google algorithm helps in that regard by being a super conductor to keep you in the bubble it thinks you want!!! Think “THEY” are out to get you? That’s what you attract, and accelerated by the algorithm, the universes little helper.

BOOM 💥You don’t have to have everything figured out.

You just have to start collapsing those waves in the direction of your true self. One pronoun at a time. One step, one outfit that finally feels like home, one conversation where you refuse to shrink yourself.

Every time you choose to live as the reality you desire, you’re rewriting the universal code and the algorithm says WTF!

So if you’re out there feeling stuck in the superposition of ‘who I am’ versus ‘who I could be’… start observing. Loudly. Joyfully. With bad jokes and better boundaries when needed.

PROBLEM 👉The future isn’t coming to save you.

SOLUTION 💋You’re bringing it into existence by daring to experience it.❤️

Tag someone who needs this reminder today.

Drop a 🌌 if you’re collapsing waves in your own fabulous way. And remember: the universe is weird enough to make this possible. Might as well use it.

I’ve been thinking…

A short while ago, I checked into a hotel and the bed was so incredibly fluffy—the comforter, the pillows, everything. It took me a moment just to settle in and truly enjoy it. Lying there felt like floating on clouds.

As I relaxed, my mind drifted to my life and how deeply happy I am with the decisions I’ve made to explore and ultimately embrace my female self.

For those of you who are thinking about this journey, please know that I understand exactly what you’re going through. I’ve been there.

What I can share from experience is this: do everything for the right reasons. You might reach the conclusion that transition isn’t for you—and that’s perfectly okay. The most important thing is that you feel at peace with whatever decision you make.

This path is rigorous, expensive, painful at times, and it takes years. But if you do choose to go through with it, I can tell you from hindsight that it has been worth every step.

Those who know me—both men and women—tell me without exception that I’m a much happier person now. They see it in my face, my body language, and my emotions.

I’ve also become a more well-rounded, complete person by embracing both my feminine and masculine sides. While I’ve expressed my femininity far more openly these days, that strong male side is still within me. There were—and still are—great qualities in him too. Together, we are so much more powerful and whole than we ever were apart.

Of course, many trans people will have different stories and perspectives, and that’s okay. Everyone’s journey is unique, and we each move forward for our own reasons.

As I always say: you do you, and I’ll do me.

  1. Gwen ,
I do have times some days when I analyse ( overthink ) what we are , then bring it down to the basics of chemistry and physics , much of our bodies are water , it’s amazing given a few more ingredients that we become such complex beings . It only comes in hindsight , when we’ve experienced the ups and downs of everyday life that we begin to realise humans aren’t perfect , we might be able in body to deal with life but our brains really must be one of the most complex things on the planet . We should never be surprised when that complex thing within us suffers from anomalies , some thoughts should be treated as abstract and yet we let those abstract thoughts control and restrict our lives , we allow the structure of society to impose artificial restrictions . Our physical gender doesn’t always align with our mental perception , why do so many have a problem with understanding that dysphoria exists , it shouldn’t be so much of a surprise if we accept each individual’s brain is wired differently . Perhaps we should accept that people who do us harm also have wiring anomalies , in truth they have a bigger problem than being transgender .
