The title of this post defines this day for me as was the first hit by the late, great Robert Palmer. He was dominant in the ’80’s with songs like Addicted to Love, I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On and Simply Irresistible. His time with a one-off band, The Power Station, with many Duran Duran members, was perfection. Harvest for The World is one of my all-timers. But I truly loved his ’70’s work like Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor) and this song.
Said the fight to make ends meet
Keeps a man upon his feet
Holding down his job
Trying to show he can’t be bought
Ooh it takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
Every kinda people
To make the world go ’round
Someone’s looking for a lead
In his duty to a king or to a creed
Protecting what he feels is right
Fights against wrong with his life
There’s no profit in deceit
Honest men know that
Revenge does not taste sweet
Whether yellow, black or white
Each and every man’s the same inside
It takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
It takes every kinda people
To make the world go ’round
Doo doo doo……
You know that love’s the only goal
That could bring a peace to any soul
Hey and every man’s the same
He wants the sunshine in his name
It takes every kinda people
To make what life’s about, yeah
It takes every kinda people
To make the world go ’round
Mmmm, every kinda people
To make what life’s about
The North Coast Men’s Chorus and their fans, Every Kinda People! This song sums up life these days so well, despite being written decades ago.

April 25, 2026, An Evening of Music, Connection & Celebration. Our Enchanted Evening is the signature annual gala of the North Coast Men’s Chorus — Cleveland’s premier LGBTQ+ choral ensemble. This was not simply an event; it is a celebration of artistry, belonging, and the transformative power of music. We had an unforgettable evening at the historic Hotel Cleveland, where guests enjoyed a champagne welcome, a plated three-course dinner, live performances by chorus soloists, dancing, a silent auction, and the opportunity to support a vital cultural institution.
This evening was a head swelling, love fest. The chorus itself, these people, all live a life of love and acceptance. My presentation this day in particular was perfection, for the event, for the venue, to make positive impressions on many. It was yet another day of people coming up and saying they saw me at the art museum, or the film festival or here or there. I was starting to make my way out the door when an amazing thing happened.
Two couples came into the event who were out in the hotel lobby. One of the chorus members encouraged them to join the party (which at this time was mostly dancing). Bethany apparently knew me from the art museum two Christmases ago and she also saw me at Kitchen Social, where I have been a handful of times, most likely with the enigma, Sherry Greer. Her husband bought us a round of drinks (yay me) and we closed the dance floor. I danced with Bethany, Dana, Bethany’s husband and many, many on the dance floor. It was a tremendous end to a tremendous day. I suspect I will see these folks again soon!
How’d I do this day? The dress, necklaces and earrings were purchased 24 hours prior. I thought they were prefect for the occasion. I added the belt, shoes and purse.

It Takes Every Kinda People to Make the World Go ‘Round

The beginning of the end.
As good as I will ever look again as I continue the circle of life, my ultimate deterioration.

I too am now speechless….I am without speech!
Kandi,
You continue to look amazing, and young.
I love your whole outfit. And your legs are fabulous to look at.
It was two years ago I was a volunteer at the NCMC Gala fundraiser. It was one of the highlights of my life. Of course none of that would have happened if it wasn’t for our friendship. Thank you beautiful Kandi.
Love,
Jocelyn
😘
Kandi,
I loved watching Robert Palmer music videos on MTV and VH1 when they only showed music videos in the 1980’s. Miss those days.
Love that dress, its a keeper.
Cali
Kandi, the dress is perfect, sparkly, and Stana-short to show off your legs. These galas are a wonderful way to be even more visible and glamorous.
I loved Robert Palmer’s voice on those songs and can still belt out the chorus on “Bad Case of Loving You”.

I’m just envious you can manage to fit into those fabulous heels. My feet are too wide for pointy heels.
Simply Irresistable, in-Dee-d!
Just between us girls, flats were worn for the second portion of the evening! Thanks my friend!!
