Networking

Continually getting more and more comfortable in my own skin.

Love this dress!! I splurged and am so happy that I did!

May 18, 2023 Plexus held a networking night in Akron. I had to drive the truck this day, so I scurried back home and got ready in a hurry and went to the event. With my apparel job, there were a few people I was hoping to see. Well, the turnout for my intended purpose was a giant dud.

But the evening was not a loss. I met Sara and Rebecca, both who work at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, working events, mostly weddings. We chatted a bit and I told them I would be happy to volunteer to work weddings, so hopefully I will get the chance to work a few.

We spent quite a bit of time just chatting and it was wonderful.

We then went to a Speakeasy near by and had another cocktail and talked even more. I just loved being one of the girls! When I left, I got some tremendous hugs!

I had planned to attend another networking event the following day, but the day was a long one, traffic to get home was terrible and I simply couldn’t go through the process of getting dressed. I went to pick up my race bib for the Cleveland (Half) Marathon I ran two days from the writing of this post. Just too much running around for this old soul. Sometimes you just have to be honest with yourself. Time home with my wife, rest, a few less cocktails, money not spent, all were probably the right decision.

So allow me to talk briefly about my outfit. This dress is like a second skin, I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to spend time dressed like this. The dress fit me perfectly, was very forgiving and had pockets! I have also made an executive decision that this wig will be my look for a while. There is simply no wig I have owned and/or worn that is more comfortable. I know I look pretty good with a long wig, but wearing one is a challenge and every single time I brushed it, I’d lose half of it. The blond wig also looks good on me, but I am always fighting with it as it always leaves a hair in my face in a fashion that drives me to distraction. The wig you see here is simply a shake and go proposition. It has never aggravated me in any fashion.

I continue to try to make this my regular work attire. Days like this please me so. I am getting close…..

  1. Lovely dress indeed and yes finding a favorite wig is something that pleases me as well
I just bought a new one and well let’s just say it’s not exactly what I expected but it has potential and I will work with it to get it right
    Another great Kandi post

  2. Fabulous, Kandi, thank you for sharing. I love the dress and hairstyle. I think it’s very practical advice to wear what makes you comfortable. There’s only a few dresses I’ve worn that felt truly comfortable on my body and those are the ones I tend to keep. And the wigs, even though I love the look of the long blonde style, I have a different one that feels much more comfortable to wear. I’m starting to realize looks aren’t actually everything. If I’m feeling comfortable dressed as a woman, I do feel much better about going out in public rather than wearing something that just doesn’t fit right or a wig that doesn’t really feel good. It does help put you much more at ease to be comfortable in what you’re wearing as I just very recently discovered! Now I really hope for the opportunity to go out with other girls sometime and just be one of them like you do. I just love everything you do so much!

    1. Thanks so much Lizzy!! Being physically comfortable in public is important to help you feel mentally comfortable.

  3. Hi Kandi,
Your outfits are always stylish and well put together. That wig really suits you and completes it all.
