Travelogue: Keystone Conference 2026 – My Day Two, Part One

Could It Be Magic

Love me some early Barry Manilow! Consider how he got out of the gate…

  • Mandy
  • Could It Be Magic
  • It’s a Miracle
  • I Write the Songs
  • Trying to Get the Feeling Again
  • This One’s for You
  • Weekend in New England
  • Looks Like We Made It
  • Can’t Smile Without You

After that (not a big Copacabana fan…), he was okay (loved that he covered the fabulous Ian Hunter song, “Ships” although I am partial to Ian’s version). But the early stuff was beautiful. The title song of this post is a gorgeous song, so orchestral. I can listen to it on auto repeat, over and over again. Mandy has that same grandness. Much of his early work was very theatrical. Listen to those two songs very closely, spectacular.

Keystone, seeing friends, magic!

The afternoon of March 21, 2026, was spent doing something I enjoy greatly. Serving as Cristy Garcia’s personal photographer. I would tell you about the morning, but I slept until 10:00 (which I haven’t done since college, literally) and got a workout in, despite having a few too many than a few too many and hitting the sack after 2:00AM. Cristy was kind enough for take a few of me and treated me to lunch. We had lunch with Marie and Jill, two lovely ladies, as I really enjoyed just talking, sharing. You will see my work over time on Cristy’s various social platforms. Here I was this afternoon.

The evening’s gala in our next post!

That’s a wrap for quite a while, maybe a good two weeks (but since we have such a backlog of posts, my dear readers will not notice I have shut it down for a bit). Work and life. Going to Chicago to see our beloved Grandson. But after that, The Cleveland International Film Festival, where I have been hired again!!!!

Life is about seeking happiness, find it because what else is the point of all of this?

  1. Thank you for being my personal photographer, Kandi! You took a lot of masterpieces that I have and will continue to share, over time, in Flickr. I will prepare a selection of my favorites (hard to pick) to be shared here in Kandi’s Land. Have fun at the Cleveland Film Festival and, by the way, that polka dress you wore there is sensational! Enjoy time with your daughter and grandson in Chicago!

Oh, and yes, early Manilow is fantastic! Copacabana sucks!
