Pose Like an Egyptian

Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia...

Okay, a bad pun off the Bangles song, but it is what I did!

June 4, 2023, I participated in a photo shoot for an upcoming edition of Haute Ohio magazine, held in a Egyptian-themed event space. No real story. Since it was a photo shoot, I spent a great deal of time on my makeup. We were given a certain look and I think, given the handicap of being old and, well male, I did okay. I spent almost three hours getting ready (and taking pictures), then had an hour drive, did the shoot and an hour back home.

The balance of this post are my pics. I took a hundred pictures (literally, exactly 100) and liked quite a few. Here is my “going to work” outfit and my outfit for the shoot.

Give me a piano and a microphone and I’m good!

Also, give me a few drinks and you see where I go with it. I simply adore being that lady!

All day long, this was playing in my head (written and performed by the fabulous Steve Martin).

King Tut (King Tut)
Now when he was a young man,
He never thought he’d see
People stand in line to see the boy king.
(King Tut) How’d you get so funky?
(Funky Tut) Did you do the monkey?
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (King Tut).
(King Tut) Now, if I’d known
They’d line up just to see you,
I’d trade in all my money
And bought me a museum. (King Tut)
Buried with a donkey (Funky Tut)
He’s my favorite honky!
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (King Tut)
Dancin’ by the Nile, (Disco Tut)
The ladies love his style, (Waltzing Tut)
Rockin’ for a mile (Rockin’ Tut)
He ate a crocodile.
He gave his life for tourism.
Golden idol!
He’s an Egyptian
They’re sellin’ you.
Now, when I die,
Don’t think I’m a nut,
Don’t want no fancy funeral,
Just one like ole king Tut. (King Tut)
He coulda won a Grammy,
Buried in his jammies,
Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia,
He was born in Arizona, lived in a condo made of stone-a,
King Tut

Steve Martin

Just read the lyrics, they are absolutely brilliant!

He gave his life for tourism…..

I stopped at the grocery store on my way home. I walk in (in the pink blouse and shirt) and the young lady who was working in the produce section says, with a big smile “Someone looks ready for summer!”. Made me happy….

Check out the Egyptian Photoshoot!
