(Ain’t Nothin’ but a) House Party!

One of my two favorite parties in Cleveland, both of which I am intimately involved with!

This 1973 gem by The J. Geils Band was actually a cover of a song by The Showstoppers. Many early Geils songs that you may know well were also covers. Rock Hall, do the right thing and induct this deserving band!

They’re dancing on the ceiling, they’re dancing on the floor
People everywhere coming through the door
They know there’s a party going on
Through the dance and romance all night long

September 19, 2026, it’s Pandemonium!

I knew I had a full day, so I got ready early and headed out the door. I stopped at a local mall and did some browsing. I simply enjoyed walking around in my dress, in a fairly busy mall. Then I headed to my friend Crystal’s engagement party to say hello. There I also saw a few friends and enjoyed myself before I had to head across town for Pandemonium. I did stop at a local landmark, Squire’s Castle, to take a few pictures.

I know it’s cold outside
Come on baby, I’ll keep you satisfied
All you got to do is move
Every time you steal that groove

It ain’t nothing but a party
It ain’t nothing but a party
It ain’t nothing but a party, baby
It ain’t nothing but a house party

I am not sure how I can articulate the great pleasure it is for me to be involved as I am with this event. Yeah, I am well aware that being an artistic organization, one would expect great open-mindedness and acceptance. And that is exactly why I am there! Compliment after compliment after compliment. Hug after hug after hug.

Two highlights for me. One, Sherry was there and we got to spend some time together. I am very fortunate for her friendship.

Two, the dress! At least half the compliments I got were from men. Kinda nice… Among the many, many people I either met or reacquainted myself with were two lovely (and quite beautiful) ladies. One said she wanted my dress, to which I said it was hers at the end of the night. After my shift ended, I ended up dancing quite a bit with both of them. Now at this time, I had changed into the dress I came in (see above). Sure enough, she called me out on it and now the dress is all hers! Pretty cool stuff.

For me, as House Manager, I am basically a glorified door person. But the interactions I get, hundreds of them, had me smiling from ear to ear the entire time. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have found for myself. I lost count of the number of times someone came up and said they knew me from somewhere else, from some other event I worked.

Come on baby dig that crazy soul
I know you’re gonna lose control
You can do the boogaloo
Anything that you want to

I know it’s cold outside
Come on baby, I’ll keep you satisfied
All you got to do is move
Every time you steal that groove

  1. I think we all want to wear that silver sparkle dress! I know I would…

It’s great to see Sherry too, even if just in photos. What a full (and fulfilling) day! ❤️
