16 Days…

This was the span of time between my recent movie shoot and this day, October 23, 2024. Kandi was nowhere to be found. There were days I did not even think about her and days I ached for her.

In one of my myriad jobs I have a customer in the Detroit area. That customer is very important to me and we developed a great relationship on a visit earlier this year. This customer happens to be gay so when we were getting to know each other, I “outed” myself to him. This day, I wanted to pay him a visit, so it was time to bring the old girl out of moth balls. I did so to be honest, to increase my opportunity to do business. Plus, leaving the house in this outfit at 7:30AM, traveling, my appointment, traveling home and then concluding my day at a networking event downtown. All day, girl day and doing so productively. Win-win-win-win…

4:20AM alarm….hit the elliptical and then some coffee. Prep time, all set up the night before (in a waste of about an hour, but it had been a while). My wife had to get ready for work at the same time, so I always respect that and move to the second bathroom (no interest in getting ready side-by-side, even though she doesn’t care, I do). I went blonde, principally to determine if I ever wear the wig again (no, except for things like the beach or exercising).

Off we go! Three hour drive to Ferndale, MI. My customer forgets we had the meeting (after confirming the day prior) but he quickly gets there. One of his staff complimented me on my perfume (“Chance” by Chanel). Sean, my customer, greets me with a hug and tells me he likes “this”. We go about doing business…

After a few hours, I head home, stopping at the Rock Hall. I need to get the 2024 poster for my Rock Hall wall…nothing. F&$k! But, of course, I snapped a few. I cleaned up my email and then headed a mile away to “Good Night John Boy”, a 70’s themed disco where I attended an International Live Events Association networking event. Nothing notable, but I did see some friends. One will have me in a bridal fashion show this coming March (not who you think, Sherry). It was just a feel good day for me. I got home about 7:30PM, 12 hours of Kandiness.

I do love the picture that opens this post (who didn’t have THAT poster) and here are a few from my happy place.

Opportunities are fewer and I expect them to remain so going forward. My ability to get out in the past was borne of a favorable schedule and resources. Now, far fewer resources and much, much less spare time. Priorities are priorities for a reason. But oh do I love my Kandi time!

Next time….not sure, could be another 16 day run. ☹️

  1. What a professional looking outfit Kandi. I love every aspect of your fashion.

Also, the hair is perfect. Blonde really makes you so attractive and memorable.

    Love,
    Jocelyn

  2. Kandi, that’s a fabulous fall outfit, I love the skirt and your earrings. I say “Quality over quantity” makes each time out more meaningful, but I know it’s different for each of us depending on our place on the CD/TG spectrum.

    1. It’s funny, I got a tremendous amount of love on an outfit I had hanging there for almost a year before I figured, what the heck!

      Thanks T!

    1. This is the thing, that wig is zero fun to wear. I drive me mad! But it’s kinda cute….

FYI, spoke with our mutual friend Paulette today…

  4. Kandi, I agree with Trish, blondes have more fun. Tried on my first blonde wig this week and I look 10 years longer. Who knew I was a blonde.
    Nice boots, too.
    Cali

  5. You look fabulous as always and I love my more blond with highlights wigs
Yes sometimes our girl time gets kicked out of the way.
I am fortunate though I can still dress fluid for work and that hits the spot for sure
    Hugs Rach
