We All Live Our Own Lives

As we have said here frequently, as we all know, “this” is completely different for each and every one of us. We are snowflakes, every single one of us different. Crossdresser, transgendered, bigendered, married, DADT, complete freedom to go out, home-bounded dresser, retired, working, children, empty nesters, on and on and on.

We all also have lives to live, responsibilities. Personally, I used to have plenty of free time. That is the only reason this blog even exists. Circumstances (both very, very good and absolutely fucking bad) have flipped, I now work every single day. Am I mining coal (as both of my grandfathers did, essentially killing one of them way too young)? No. Am I free to think about, dream about, Kandi’s next outing? Not any more. Do I put in an eight hour day? No, but that is because they are often 16 hour days and sometimes a only few hours. But I grind every single day.

So, as you read here yesterday, I stiffed my BFF Sherry recently because her circumstances (1,000% deserved, she is far smarter than I am) and mine are not at all the same. We rescheduled for January 11, 2025 and her focus was on what we would do, how she would enjoy the experience. Me…my mind went to the evening with BFF that afternoon. Too much to do. I had cleared the day dedicated to going out with Sher, then I got a text from a handyman I had been waiting to hear from for well over a month. We have a litany of small projects in the house that I am no longer capable of doing because my hands have lost much of their fine motor skills. As you have probably guessed by now, he wanted to work on this day. So instead of having the house to myself the entire day to really enjoy getting ready (it had been two weeks since I had done this), I had company and could not start until much later than originally planned. They stayed longer to finish than was ideal, but the work was done very well and I had to short cut some things to get out the door.

So let’s breathe a bit and enjoy my evening, our friendship and let’s all understand, my life is different than your life which is different than anyone else’s life.

The evening…lovely! I am blessed to have a friend like Sherry, who puts up with my idiosyncrasies. Really no great story. Two ladies sitting at the bar having dinner. The bartender, a lovely lady, knows how to get tipped well (“Ladies” what can I get you? How is everything “Ladies”?). That never goes unnoticed.

By the way, it is absolutely striking in the picture that opens the blog to see someone who knows what she is doing (Sherry) and Miss DYI (me). Beauty and the beast…

We then headed to a local jazz club which was wonderful. I did feel a bit like the scene in the greatest film masterpiece of all-time, Animal House (every single line, every word spoken in that film was funny, most iconic), “Otis! My Man!”. Sherry and I were in the significant demographic minority there, but it didn’t matter. Great band.

The evening, as I said was absolutely lovely. Thanks BFF…

One photo, taken reflectively, at evenings end (I hope I stayed within the PG-13 standard here, I think so….).

I booked a boudoir shoot in the next few weeks, so I am thinking through some things.

  1. Dear Beauty and The Beauty,

Two great looking ladies having a wonderful evening. I’m glad you had time to get out and enjoy food, wine and jazz.

    What a cheeky photo!

    Love to both of you,
    Jocelyn

  2. Kandi,
The evening was wonderful, I had such a great time! You talk of you “stiffing” me, that gives the notion that it was intentional and by no means that is true. Things happen! Thanks for being you!
    Sherry

  3. Good Morning Kandi,
This is a delightful and meaningful blog post. Huh? Really, you might be thinking. Yes. Meaningful and delightful because it presents the beauty of the simple but fundamental, and I would say essential, human need of companionship, camaraderie, and the sharing of life experiences be they mundane or spectacular not mattering at all. You and Sherry had a good evening together and that alone is deeply meaningful when viewed from the perspective of usually having to deal with all the other stuff that life throws at us.
The image of “Otis, my man…” that you added to describe your evening is hilarious, touching, and made me smile. Yes, Animal House, is a classic that is etched in my memory with so many scenes absolutely bursting with comedic excellence.
Have a good, if chilly, Ohio Tuesday!
    Best to you and yours,
    Marissa in Ohio

  4. Kandi, you and Sherry look great, just two casual women out for an evening. Life always seems to intrude on us, but we make it work and still enjoy the time spent, whether it’s solo or with a true friend. Love your sweater, simple yet so feminine.

  5. Well yes our lives apart from our girl sides do tend to get in the way but it is always nice to find girl time
You are fortunate to have such a special friend as Sherry to be with
I’m just a solo girl in the world just trying my best thr make the most of it.
Also I think you had to much wine for such a risqué picture lol looking good my dear
