We all know this 1976 song by Starbuck, their one and only hit. But what a hit! To this day, it is used in commercials and never gets old. It evokes such a mood, almost like what summer sounds like.
The BFF, the enigma, our Sherry, actually asked me to go out!! Hadn’t seen her in a bit, she’s been too busy for us little people, ever since she’s built her mansion and hired her wait staff (we kid because we love). But then June 4, 2026 rolled around and we met at my most favorite spot there is, Vaccaro’s Tratatoria! For any reader that actually has a life (all of you) and doesn’t know about this place from past posts, it is a fabulous Italian restaurant that I discovered many years ago volunteering at an event. Time and again, I have hung at the bar at Happy Hour and made one human connection after another. I almost always have a tremendous conversation with other patrons, despite being who and what I am. By the way, the Happy Hour specials are great, the food is fantastic.
My problem is it’s a 45-minute drive from home and I am an over tipper when kindnesses are extended to me. It’s always a risky drive home and I am always out about $60 (it ended up being almost $70, to feed just me, with Happy Hour prices), almost no matter what. As a result, I don’t go here as often as I would otherwise. I am good friends with the bartender (surprise there), and I introduced Sherry to the place. a while back. I cannot speak for her, even though she rarely speaks here, but she has also had similar experiences there.
I was in a mood, needing to stretch my girl legs a bit despite having quite a few Kandi opportunities immediately after this day. Oh, I had an abbreviated time before Sher and I met, but it was quite fun! I ran a handful of drop off errands and then went bra shopping. Don’t judge me, I am now a frequent bra wearer (panties 24/7/365 for over a decade). I have to have a few different styles to wear one in male mode. We’ll leave it there for now.
The I went to David’s Bridal, where I am known and loved! Long story short, I crushed the clearance rack, picking up the LBD of all LBDs for, get this, $10.07! Yeah me!! I was treated like a queen the entire time there.
The few hours I spent with Sher is why she is the BFF! No real story, just friendship, comfort, love. I am truly lucky to know this shadowy figure… 😘
As you look my photos this day, they almost look like there is an AI background. I certainly would look far better myself with AI, but we’re a real gal and always will be. It was a spectacular day. I am the luckiest girl alive!!
Yes, I am aware my song reference made no sense, as the entire day discussed here happened in the sunlight. But you know the song and it does feel like summer. We here in the Land have been experiencing an amazing stretch of San Diego-like weather. Days in our neck of the woods are often humid. Days hanging in the mid 70’s with zero humidity are gifts and we have strung together more than a week of this. Nirvana!

As a crossdresser, my midlife crisis had nothing to do with a new car or a 20 something girlfriend. It was about coming to terms with who I am and the fact that life is short. I needed to get down to the business of doing the thing I’d dreamed of doing for my entire life. So, I put on the dress and walked out the door. Into the light. Fck guilt and shame. Fck judgement from strangers. I decided to do me and not care what anyone else thought of me. My only regret is that it took me until I was 47 to figure it out. We all have our time. You might not be ready. But you need to be getting yourself ready for when you are ready. Because it happens fast. It’s gonna be glorious and we’re all gonna wanna hear all about your defiant first steps out into the light. ❤️❤️❤️
