“Calendar” Girl!

Miss January and Miss April welcome you to her latest movie premier!

Time for the world premier of “Calendar” the most recent Troubadour Films production!

I was very much looking forward to this for many reasons. I had a shitty week. It’s not often that you get a potential cancer diagnosis and that is NOT even close to the worst thing to happen to you that week. We’ll just say I’m taking it up the backside in more ways than one but I am a survivor! I persevere! I thrive in a crisis. I would rather not have to, but who am I to skate through life when there is suffering all around us and all around the world. I will continue to remind my readers, I may be fortunate in some ways (Kandi freedom), and VERY unfortunate in many others. Be thankful for what you have and quit complaining about what you don’t. Our community here in Kandi’s Land lives this truth, but many in our gender challenged “community” do not. Okay, off the soapbox….

The above two photographs were taken on set, in my two roles: New Year’s Eve bartender (not a real stretch for me, especially lately) and Easter Sunday churchgoer (also a familiar role). If you watch or have watched the trailer, you will see my brief but prominent cameo in the first minute or so of the movie. No one feigns wonderful surprise or pours shots quite like yours truly. Such wasted talent……

I have to say, I LOVE THIS STUFF! If I wasn’t trans (this has clearly been an impediment to my getting more opportunities), if I wasn’t old, if my look and voice matched, I could have been someone.

After putting some shit behind me that morning, April 27, 2023, I went about getting ready. I know when I look amazing (it happens every once in a while). This day, I looked amazing! And, I think you will agree, happy! Take your lumps, get up off the floor, strap on your bra, ladies, and revel in who we are!

The movie was great! My roles were surprisingly prominent being as brief as they were. And a few people came up and told me how well I did, which meant they remembered someone in the background with no lines! I just enjoyed sitting there in my dress, legs crossed, purse and hands gently sitting in my lap, just at peace.

I attended the after party in the bar next door and the bar where we shot the opening scene. Again, it was simply delightful and a wonderful evening!

The cast and crew of Calendar, in case you think I make this stuff up!

The next day, May 28, 2023, I went for a five mile walk in Edgewater Park and spent some store credit at Avalon on two skirts and an adorbs black sundress. No real story at all, just a mind-clearing (and hangover reducing) walk, being out and me.

  1. Kandi, your premiere dress looks fabulous – red and black is always stylish, with the animal print an on-trend addition. Of course, the red bag and shoes are just right too.

I am sending you a virtual hug and agreeing with you that finding the simple joys in life when life smacks you in the face is all we can strive for. You’ve been a successful and supportive role model for so many, and I can only hope that you know how much we love and support you. ❤️❤️

    1. Tina, thank you! I am aware that I am considered a role model by some and while I may or may not deserve that, I try my best to live up to it. It gives me purpose and keeps me grinding forward. So thank you for simply being you. ❤️

  2. My dear you look fabulous in both outfits and who doesn’t love the cute tennis skirt for a nice walk
I enjoy walking in my local park as well and always as Rachael.
A walk in the park does a body and mind good for sure
    Love ya Rach
