Upcoming is the art museum’s Parade the Circle. I have been asked and agreed to participate with the museum’s Women’s Council (WC) in this event. We are honoring the WC’s floral arrangers with our own rendition of a floral arrangement – Parade style. I am told to forget reality and lean into whimsy. We are creating a giant vase filled with stationary flowers and a few human flowers which will be positioned on a platform on wheels and pulled by four able bodied men dressed as gardeners, all of which will be surrounded by strolling flowers including three stilt walkers! Yours truly will be a strolling daisy. The petals are in a round frame, so it’s worn like a collar. There will also be some sort of cap to cover my hair. Then a little fascinator hat to look like the center of the flower.
Costumes are green t-shirts, green tights, and long green gloves. We still haven’t decided what we’re going to be wearing over all that but probably some kind of green tunic of some sort. Yep, I am one of the girls! Obviously, more soon on this.
May 2, 2025, was our first, or at least my first, meeting. All of this prior to the monthly MIX event. So, what does this all mean? All day in a dress! I went very “all day dress” with a nod to the fact that I would be on my feet all day.
My first stop was at the mall to get some watch batteries. You may (and probably don’t notice), I always wear a watch on my left wrist, bracelets on my right and a ring (usually a wedding ring) on my ring finger. I am absolutely a creature of habit. I bought cheap watches as I built the beast known as my wardrobe. Cheap watches have cheap batteries.
Here we see Suzy Homemaker making a salad for her spouse’s dinner before her day out and about!

The dress was recently plucked off an uber clearance rack at JCPenney for less than $5. It is a bit big, but a comfortable all-day dress. I was unsure of it but once I added the belt, viola! Because I anticipated a chilly museum, I added the sweater and black glasses to tie all the colors together.
I arrived at the art museum’s community center, where everything from Parade the Circle is housed. I had never been there before and that space is awesome! Me and three other women, one of which is a dear friend and who invited me, basically crafted, chatted, did what women do. Forgive me here: WOW, I am one part of the Women’s Council for a WORLD CLASS (literally) art museum, with a multimillion dollar+ endowment. ME. Ladies that speak to me, wearing dresses, looking so fabulous, being what women are, the backbone and the spine of our society. Just a fact, if there were no women, there would be no human beings…
Here we see what the patrons at the monthly MIX saw. She gathered quite a few lovely compliments all day and night long. My favorite had to be one woman who gushed about how everything I wore tied together. We all know how detail oriented I am and when it is noticed and mentioned, it fills me with tremendous pride.

The day was so joyful but was marked by my complete inability to resist the demon known as alcohol. I had (for the one millionth time) decided to go dry for a while. Which I am capable of doing but have done ONLY when occupied, busy. Much like when my mind is idle, thoughts of all of this flood in. When my body is idle, the devil known as alcohol is always there. I have to defeat this, I must. I am sick and tired of feeling like garbage every morning when this happens, which is often.
So, between art museum activities, I parked my behind on a bar stool, had a few and wrote this any some other posts. The drinks were because I had time to kill, nothing to do. I then headed to the museum, assumed my post of almost a decade and commenced with three hours of broad smiles and yes, a drink or three. Good and bad, ying and yang, up and down…life.

Kandi ,
I have no problem with the dress , it’s no wonder the other ladies took to you ( why do we need to question IT ? ) they are either comfortable with you or not and you soon know when they aren’t !
Your flower outfit sounds very similar to an outfit I wore when we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day . I found a green short scalloped skirt with an emerald green top and a shamrock necklace , OK I didn’t have the floral trimmings but it was still so much fun .
Kandi, the dress is great, made perfect with the bow belt you added. No wonder you fit in easily with the other women for the day.
😘
You look fabulous as always and yes there isn’t any kind of clothing much more comfortable than a nice dress or a top and skirt.
I love it when I’m able to put on my spring sun dresses
