I was in drab in Australia at a Salvo’s and I came across a Wonder Woman dress hanging on the racks. My first reaction was “cute”, the second reaction was “will it fit?”, followed by, “if it fits, where do I wear it besides Halloween?”
I’ll often ride my bike in Australia to check out thrifts (called “op shops”, short for opportunity shops). Being in Australia, few people know me, so I will carry dresses to change rooms and try them on.
A quick trip to the change rooms and the “will it fit?” answer was yes. That–and the price being under $10 US–made it a no brainer decision to buy it.
Once back in the US, I texted my (freakin’ gorgeous) GG friend Michelle, asking if she wanted to go out that Satur-Dee night. She was an enthusiastic yes. I started Googling and found a downtown St. Louis club–one that I didn’t know existed (about a block from where I normally park for baseball games)– that was having a Prince tribute night. I texted Michelle, and after she was all in, I bought tickets.
After a further reading the website, I realized it wasn’t a Prince show, but rather a burlesque show set to music from Prince. Burlesque isn’t really my cup of tea, but Michelle is definitely a fan, so I was happy that she would be happy.
Given that it seemed like a fun club, I quickly decided the Wonder (Won-Dee) Woman dress would be appropriate to wear, and Michelle was on board with that. Unfortunately, while trying it on a couple of nights before, both of the clear plastic slots on the front of the dress–which hold the bra straps–broke. Michelle finally figured out how to use safety pins to keep the straps up.
The dress was a hit. Walking in I received a compliment from a woman, I got two or three more during the evening, and the Emcee for the show (one of the performers doing double duty) complimented my dress while she walked through the audience doing announcements!
There were about ten performers, all women, who showed a lot of flesh, with nipple covers and g-strings. Lots of swirling tassels, if you get my drift. The audience was about one hundred, probably 60 to 75% female, so a tolerant LGBT friendly club.

Michelle and I stayed for the show and then a bit longer, a little over two hours. We next went to a more mainstream bar that had live music. We wanted some food, but arrived after the kitchen was closed. The dress wasn’t an issue.
A fun night all around, and a dress I will remember.
When I started going out, I wanted to blend into the woodwork. Now I’m more interested in wearing something fun, and if that attracts attention, so be it. I’m also often with an attraction magnet–named Michelle–so either way there is no use trying to dodge attention.
After that night, I left the dress with Michelle for her to do repairs. She has engineered a more permanent fix for future use–and she wants to wear it some day!

Dee,
WONDERFUL WW TALE. On a Halloween many light years ago, one of my first going out into world I visited my very favorite
watering hole who was having a costume party. I WAS WONDER WOMAN and really looked and totally felt the part. Received many many compliments an won the best custom award and was pulled into a an ALL Girl Dance Line and was even hit on by a good looking guy. I was flustered but not embarrassed , excused myself by saying I as meeting my boy friend. A wonderful experience. My very first as a GIRL the start of a delightful career as a FEMULATOR.
