Last month we met Lili Reinhart, this month we were treated to Paul Raci. Paul is an American actor best known for his role as Joe in the Sound of Metal (2020) directed by Darius Marder, starring opposite Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke. He can also be seen in many TV shows including Baskets opposite Zach Galifinakis, Goliath opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Parks and Recreations opposite Amy Poehler.
Paul is not a Clevelander, he is from Chicago, but he is good friends with one of the delightful working actors that are a part of the acting school that hosts these events.
I got plenty of love on the sundress I wore! Second day in a row in a sundress, I can think of nothing better to wear on a bright and sunny day.
I stopped for a light dinner and a cocktail (or two) before the show, also walking a bit through one of Cleveland’s many delightful neighborhoods.
The event itself was wonderful as Paul answered question after question. Paul is a CODA (child of deaf adults), so much of the conversation was about his experiences with them and how they interacted with the world. There were quite a few deaf folks there and a few got to ask questions.
One thing I found fascinating, one would assume sign language was universal. It is not. Just like the spoken language, sign language differs based upon the home language of any particular country.
After the show, I tagged along with a group of people while chatting with one of the hostesses of the event, who is a working actress. We walked over to a restaurant, and I asked if I could join them. They welcomed me and it wasn’t until we were all introduced that I realized I invited myself to a small family dinner.
That did not matter and I had a wonderful time and even told a handful of my many stories (Boston, Rock Hall, etc.) that I enjoy telling, or rather reliving.
I got home much later than expected so I was dragging the next day, but you seize opportunities or the moment when you can!
