[Editorial comment: This post also was intended to have run in mid-February.]
First of all, let me wish all you beautiful people a wonderful Valentine’s Day [My bad].
I was thinking, as I often do, about what to write about today. I could always write the standard love piece. But how could I make my writing bigger and more impactful? I then had the idea of a Love Rainbow. With each person being an individual beacon of light that when combined with other lights, will create a beautiful new picture.
Together, we all create a Love ❤️ Rainbow 🌈
Love in a broader sense starts with understanding. Seek first to understand, then be understood. We have to relearn how get along in an increasingly polarizing society.
Let’s understand that each person has a right to their opinion and honor each person for their point of view even if we disagree with them.
Let’s recognize that it is more important to listen than to be self-righteous. It does greater good for the world when we accept that everyone has a right to be heard.
Let’s choose to see the bigger picture.
I believe in unity. I also believe in diversity. I liken humanity to the rainbow🌈. We each display a different color and yet, together, we create the rainbow.
Seeing that each color is beautiful as an individual, yet together we are magnificent is such a better perspective.
Let’s choose to bring people together, rather than be at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Finding the common good in that we have so much more in common than we don’t. I believe that we all just want to live the best life we can.
Underneath it all, we are all just love ❤️.
I believe in the good of people and notice that we’re all just doing our best with what we have experienced.
Let’s choose to live with compassion in our heart.
Part of love is learning forgiveness.
We can grow our capacity for more love by seeing the blessings of all our experiences with others no matter how they are first encountered.
YOU ARE THE SUM TOTAL OF YOUR EXPERIENCES UP UNTIL NOW.
We can also learn the lessons of our past. I know that sometimes I make mistakes. We all do. But let’s work to make things right where we’ve been shortsighted and in ego. Perhaps asking for forgiveness is part of learning to forgive others ourselves.
Today, let’s choose acceptance and love. Living this way enables us to meet others where they’re at, discover things we have in common, and make rainbows 🌈 of peace and unity that result in greater strength and beauty for us all.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Be Strong. 💪
