Cherry, Baby!

Our budding actress takes her next steps....

1977, Starz, off the album “Violation”. I actually owned two Starz 8 tracks, back in the day. This was one of my favorite one hit wonders and the theme for my outfit on this wonderful day, June 30, 2021.

I have been wanting to do something creative beyond this here place. My recent movie experience sparked something in me. I really would like to do stand up, but really don’t know how to craft a routine. I have always been humorous, in a smart-ass-in-the-back-of-the-class sort of way. How do I channel that? So I signed up to audit an improv class. Knowing zero going in, as usual knowing no one, I decided to go cute and casual.

The pants were a dollar pick up at Piece Unique. The t-shirt, adorable, a recent clearance purchase at Charlotte Russe. The cherry necklace was a no-brainer.

On a rainy afternoon, my first stop was to return something at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Then I drove to the shopping area where the class was being held and had my dinner. Happy Hour, of course, and it was very nice! Very good food, great prices and even better margaritas!

There were about 15 of us in the class, all ages and ethnicities. It was a ninety minute class and was a treat every second I was in there. Our instructor, as you might imagine, was bubbly and so much fun! She had done some time at Second City and really sparkled. We did the obligatory self-introductions and I believe, three exercises. All of them were so much fun and with each I grew more and more comfortable. Afterward a few of my classmates told me I did well and said they hoped to see me back. The whole thing was wonderful!

I am now signed up for the next seven Wednesdays to take this class and I cannot wait for the next one!

  1. Kandi,
You will love the improv classes.
I am a Second City Toronto improv classes graduate. What a wonderful experience it was, and I am sure you will feel the same as you go through the training. Other graduates (not my year) and Second City Toronto players were John Candy, Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, Dan Aykroyd, Martin Short, and Catherine O’Hara. Quite a group.
Have fun and keep looking beautiful.

    Jocelyn
