Deck The House 2025

Merry Christmas!

I thought it best to run this post on Christmas Day. Of all the worthy charities I support (and there are many with my time and passion), this is the most meaningful. Read about The Providence House here. If you can spare a few dollars, please consider this charity!

Read about my post-pandemic experiences at this event here: 2022, 2023 and 2024.

December 9, 2025, an event that is always at the top of my list of things I get to do every year. For some background, this day was the first day of the rest of my life. I won’t yet bore you with details (this was written prior to some recent posts), but FINALLY I have solved my “making a living” issues. For 22 years, I have been self-employed, grinding out income year after year (with the exception of my two-plus year “sabbatical”), deriving income streams from probably over 50 different places over this period of time. Survival. Not easy. A significant weight on my mind each and every day of my life. I will go into it soon, but I am now working indirectly for Amazon (no, not delivering packages to your porch), having passed a background check, which has shot down opportunity after opportunity for me recently.

With this enormous mental freedom, I embarked on a five out of six-day Kandi bender, this was Day One. I will remind my reader and anyone new to this place, volunteering is the single best way to get out, be accepted and dress in ways you probably would not get the chance to do otherwise. And this proves it.

The following was a true Christmas gift for me! I left the event early, as my participation had concluded and I could only have consumed one too many, so I felt it was best to head home. The event ended at 9:30PM, I was in bed by 9:15. While I slept, at about 10:30PM, so pretty much after the event, I received the following message through the Contact page here:

“You looked beautiful at the ProvHouse fundraiser. Incredible passion to see you partake in meaningful events each and every year. Luckily someone posted a picture with you and I saw your name as I am way too shy to approach such a distinguished elegant woman like you on my own. Maybe one day!”

I was honestly flabbergasted, such a sweet, sweet message! Thank you dear, I cannot tell you what that means to me. To be positively noticed and to have someone remember me enough to send this message after probably having arrived home after the event, so affirming.

The event itself, as always, was wonderful. Person after person remembering me, greeting me kindly. I again worked the mystery stocking event and had a blast. I am not articulate enough to explain what all of this means to me. And oh yeah, I did look great! I say that not out of arrogance. I know I am no Cindy Crawford, but I do know how to put an outfit together and I have changed and fine-tuned my makeup routine with what I believe to be the absolute best way to present myself.

From the Kandi’s Land world headquarters to you and yours, a very Merry Christmas!
