It’s Not Easy Being Green!

All of this happened June 14, 2025, and I have witnesses!

Parade The Circle, which if you read this here blog, you know I have been looking forward to. As you can well imagine, life threw me yet another curve ball, but then it swung back into the strike zone. It freakin’ poured all night, all morning. Grandma here got her behind out of bed and dressed to be at the art museum at 9:00AM as requested. Standing water everywhere, sheeting rain. I get there and the picture you see above was me before I turned around and went home, parade canceled. Close to two hours in the books on the road, there and back. Sigh…

Then they decide to do a modified version of the parade, on the sidewalk that surrounds the area. The sad part was when the parade was to start at noon, the weather was just fine. But the hour before, when everyone, including lining up the parade and setting up vendors, it was a deluge. I get the call at 11:00, time to return. Okay, anther 45+ minute drive back and I had the time of my life!

The picture at left was our float, on the local Fox channel the day prior. There were probably 12 of us involved, plus the float. This day, me, Katy and Pat (who is a dear, dear friend and got me involved) were it. For the record, we had a whole Busby Berkeley (Google it kids) routine choreographed. Alas, the world is somewhat lesser for having not seen it.

Here I am, in full costume, I mean in character. The shoes are not part of the costume, just needed for the day.

The three of us, see below, did our thing. Preening for cameras (at my behest), I passed out hugs, did my parade wave, cracked jokes, did a bit of stand up, but mostly grinned for ear to ear. Sadly, all of the work that went into many, many costumes and the float, went unseen. Most of the other ladies were not able to participate.

These photos were taken inside the museum, where we were absolutely rock stars! It was like being a character at Disney World. “Can we take a picture with you?” Many, many times! I had a beer with my friends and their family members afterwards. I spun a bunch of Rock Hall tales, and I cannot explain how I am treated like me, this person who looked great in women’s clothes, or a daisy outfit, unusual in most people’s day-to-day experiences.

This was my transitionary outfit to head home for more. The picture at right is my friend Teresa. We met recently at CIFF, became Facebook friends and she was at the parade. She shouted me out and I waived her over for the big hug!

Anyone need arm length green satin gloves and kelly green tights?

But wait! There’s more!

The Deadly Type

I returned home and got ready for my most recent movie premier. I am quite proud of this outfit, the colors, the fit, the look. This is not a great big story. I got there for the early Red Carpet, got some pics and then had a few (don’t judge me). I returned to the theater and the female lead in the film asked to take a picture with me, that was sweet.

The shoes were absolute torture. Agony. They had been before, but they made the outfit, and I knew I would be seated for a feature film, so I could remove them. Less that 24 hours later, I sold them.

The film was pretty good. I had my issues with the plot, but the production was great. My name was in the credits, and I was on camera for a good ten seconds. I saw a few people that knew me and as usual, more that remembered me from a past production and I had no clue who they were. It’s fun seeing people that I know on screen.

The day was long, my feet were near amputation status, so I passed on the after party and headed home. Quite the day, all in all!
